2019 Friday photo challenge (week 11) Reflection

This week, reflection is the theme for Alison in Andalucia’s #52fridayphotos and a trip to the park at Europa Point early this week was a perfect opportunity to catch this reflection. You can just make out the southern end of the top of the Rock behind the mosque at Europa Point reflected in my Little Postcard’s sunglasses.

2019 Friday photo challenge (week 10) Vintage

I’m a day late with this, but it was rather appropriate that yesterday’s photo challenge was ‘vintage’ because yesterday we celebrated my parents’ Golden Wedding Anniversary. 50 years is a heck of a milestone. This photo is of the cover of their wedding album, which at 50 years old qualifies as vintage I think.

And here’s a picture from my recent trip to Stockholm. We spotted this fab vintage shop while on our way out to dinner one evening.

This Friday photo challenge is being organized by Alison in Andalucia

Friday photo challenge (week 5) Nature

This week, I made a quick trip home to see my family. On Wednesday morning I awoke to find everything covered in a light blanket of snow.

It was beautiful to see everything brightened by the dusting. Little did I know what an impact nature would have on my day…

Not only did it mean a 20 minute journey to Manchester Airport would take 2 hours…

It also lead to a delay of 5 hours to come back home to Gibraltar… I was one of the lucky ones – at least I got home. Many didn’t.

It’s hard to believe that such a little bit of snow could cause such disruption. But it does remind you that nature is always capable of disrupting our well made plans.

Mersey Estuary

Nature is so beautiful though…

Severn Estuary

…don’t you think?

Friday photo challenge 2019 (week 4) Moon

How fortuitous that ‘moon’ should be the subject for the photo challenge this week? We started our week with a total lunar eclipse early on Monday morning. Unfortunately, I missed the eclipse and it’s ‘blood moon’, but I did get the chance to see the super moon before it set behind the hills above Algeciras across the Bay of Gibraltar from where we live.

The last time we saw a super moon in Gibraltar was in November 2016. I went down to Europa Point to see it.

2019 Friday photo challenge (week 1) Sunrise

This year I am taking part in Alison in Andalucia’s #52fridayphotos. Today’s challenge theme is ‘sunrise’.

That was a bit of a problem as I don’t have any sunrise photos. Living where we do on the Western side of Gibraltar we get to see some fabulous sunsets though…

This photo was taken while sitting on the platform at Manchester Oxford Road railway station waiting for an early train. That’s as close as I can get to sunrise! (I’m not really a morning person!)
