I’m Lindsay, a Mum of three and a lifelong crafter. My craft of choice is crochet, but I also love to embroider, knit, sew and paint. I recently began to design amigurumi crochet dolls inspired by my garden and the natural world (you can see a few of my creations in the picture above – I’m holding Cariad & Dave the daffodils). My background is in journalism and I love hearing people’s stories, so I merged my two passions of craft and story-telling to create Making Stitches Podcast in the spring of 2020.
There is now a back catalogue of over 50 episodes featuring inspiring maker stories from the worlds of yarn crafts, textiles, needlework and fabric conservation. You can listen to Making Stitches Podcast via episode links here as well as by searching for Making Stitches on your favourite podcast app including Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Spotify & Stitcher plus many others.
In addition to my podcasting and crochet, I am a freelance writer and have written articles for craft magazines. I have also worked as a news reader and reporter as well as a radio presenter in previous jobs.
This blog was first born in July 2015 under the name Postcard from Gibraltar. At the time I lived with my family in Gibraltar, a small but fascinating place in the south of Europe at the southern most tip of the Iberian peninsula. I used the blog to write about family life as an expat living way down south and in the sunshine. There are many posts in this site’s archives detailing walks around the Rock and taking in the scenery. You can find them by looking for my “A Stroll around Gibraltar” posts.
We returned to the UK in the summer of 2020, after 11 years spent living in Gibraltar and in September 2022 Postcard from Gibraltar was renamed ‘Making Stitches’. My amigurumi crochet patterns are available for sale on Etsy from the Making Stitches Shop.
Thank you for stopping by!
