2017 Weekly photo challenge (Week 51) Window

I was a bit spoiled for choice for this week’s challenge. We had an amazing summer this year and were lucky enough to do some traveling. The above photograph was taken as we took off from Gibraltar at the start of our summer adventures.

The following window pictures were taken in the beautiful Saint-Nazaire Basilica in Carcassonne in Southern France. They were the most beautiful stained glass windows I have ever seen and the photographs sadly don’t do them justice.

Seeing all these reminds me that I still have a trillion photos on my camera which are crying out to be featured in blog posts about our summer trips. They will follow at some point – I promise!

I’m linking with Nana Cathy and Wild Daffodil for this weekly photo challenge throughout 2017.

    1. Haha, yes I’m sure you did Cathy. They were breathtaking weren’t they? Out of interest, what was the weather like there in Feb? Was there snow on the mountains nearby? We’ve talked about perhaps going back at a different time of year. We loved the area so much.

  1. Stunning. Isn’t Carcassone that lovely place featuring in a Kate Fosse book? (For the life of me I can’t remember the title but I know I loved it!)

    1. Yes it is! That’s the main reason why we went. We were on holiday in Toulouse and it was just over an hour’s drive away. I took loads of pictures. Hope to do a post about it before too much longer. It was Labyrinth by Kate Mosse. Did you read the rest of the trilogy? Citadel and Sepulcher I think were the other two. I met her briefly at the Gibraltar Literary Festival a few years ago when she visited. I love her books 🙂

      1. That was the title! Lovely! I read Sepulchre but not Citadel. Thought Labryinth the better of the two. Wow, you met her. I often wonder if authors ‘fit’ the books they write!

      2. I liked Labyrinth best if I’m honest but enjoyed the themes which ran through them all. She came across as a genuinely nice person, and amazingly for me was standing next to Joanne Harris of Chocolat fame. I also loved her collection of short stories called Winter Ghosts – if you get a chance to read that do, some of her tales are set in and around the Languedoc and have s familiar thread. 🙂
